Grazing & Turnout

At Haras du Saubouas, our paddocks span a total area of 400 hectares and are meticulously maintained to provide an optimal environment for your horses. Our philosophy centres on extensive, herd-based management in very large paddocks. Horses are turned out as much as possible to benefit from natural grazing, supplemented by individual morning and evening feeds. Each resident receives thorough, daily professional monitoring.

Foaling

Foaling is carried out by a highly experienced professional team. Our foaling units are equipped with CCTV systems and foaling alarms to ensure the safety of mares and newborn foals. From the very first moments of life, immunological screening tests are carried out on mares and their foals to ensure they are in the best of health..

Climate

Haras du Saubouas benefits from a mild and early-starting spring, ideal for making full use of our pastures; yearlings are turned out from the beginning of March. Yearlings and two-year-olds destined for the sales begin their preparation at the end of June, while those aimed at the track continue to benefit from turnout through to the early autumn.

We also welcome former residents returning to the yard for rest and recuperation, in a familiar, natural, and peaceful setting.
